Debbie Lillard is an internationally recognized expert on Home Organizing, featured on A&E’s Hoarders and HGTV’s Mission: Organization as well as radio shows across the US, Canada and England.
Her practical approach to simplifying your life and her creative ideas make her a favorite with such national publications as: The Chicago Tribune, Better Homes & Gardens, Woman’s Day, Disney’s Family Fun, and Family Circle.
Debbie has run Space to Spare, a professional organizing service since 2003 and has three published books: Absolutely Organized (North Light Books 2008), Absolutely Organize Your Family (Betterway Home Books 2010) and A Mom’s Guide to Home Organization (Betterway Books, Dec. 20, 2012). She has sold over 30,000 copies of her first two books.
She loves to speak to professional woman about how to create order and balance in their lives. Growing up in a small house with 6 kids, she knows of what she speaks! Her “close” family is a source of many funny stories about how not to be organized as well as the motivation for her to eliminate the chaos from her own life. Sharing her bedroom with three sisters, she was forced to be a minimalist at an early age. As a new mom she quickly developed a system of her own with a little help from her family’s “baby schedule.” Other moms in her neighborhood Mom’s Club (of which she was President) were curious how she got so much done and kept her house so neat and organized. Debbie was giving so much advice and tips, she decided to turn this into a consulting business and Space to Spare was born.
One year into her new business, she was asked to appear on HGTV’s Mission: Organization. A few years later, she decided to put all her tips into book format and Absolutely Organized was published in Dec. 2007.
Now as a working mother of three, she is on a mission to help others see that they can simplify and de-clutter their lives so they stress less and enjoy more. Her real life stories keep her audiences laughing as they learn they are not alone and there is hope for improvement.

- Family Circle Excerpt Getting the Family Organized for Back to School is as Easy As ABC by Sarah Stebbins “A – Assess Needs. Organizing and shopping strategies for clothes and supplies. Schedule time with each child to take a wardrobe inventory. Toss damaged goods and decide which wearable items can be passed on to younger siblings or donated to charitable organizations, says professional organizer Debbie Lillard, author of Absolutely Organize Your Family (Betterway Home). To curb unnecessary purchases, Lillard sends her kids on a room-to-room scavenger hunt to see what they can find and check off their (school supply) lists.”
